Friday (2026-09-04), IDATA/UFV hosted the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zool Hilmi Ismail, Deputy Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The meeting also included the Forestry Engineering research group from UFV, led by Prof. Dr. Diogo Cosenza, to showcase laboratory facilities, explore technological applications in forestry, and strengthen institutional ties.

During the session, participants discussed advances in artificial intelligence and application development, highlighting the hands-on approach adopted at CAIRO. The visitors shared how students at the Malaysian center are encouraged to go beyond virtual simulations by deploying AI solutions directly onto embedded edge devices capable of operating autonomously and offline in the field.

The discussion also covered UFV's computational infrastructure, focusing on the university's high-performance cluster and its capacity to support data-intensive applied research. This interdisciplinary exchange between IDATA, Forestry Engineering, and CAIRO-UTM opened promising avenues for future technical cooperation in robotics and computational intelligence.
